How to legalize your residency in the country

You can enter a state from the majority of countries without a visa, as a tourist, which gives you the opportunity to stay there for several dozens of days depending on the country of citizenship. Although hypothetically these terms can be extended for a number of passports (including the Russian Federation) through an onshore traveling abroad to one of many neighbouring countries and entering back, we, who are interested in the full inclusion of immigrants in daily life of the country, strongly recommend launching the entire naturalization process, especially since it is not complicated.

1. There are several ways to acquire a residence permit (boravak) in Montenegro:
   Establishing a company — 330 euros (starting position for a residence permit to the director);
   1.1. After establishing a company you make a boravak (for the subsequent steel boravak — Permanent Residence Permit, which is issued after 5 years) with the registration of the director — 350 euros.
   2. Boravak for real estate — 220 euros.
   3. Boravak for employment (annual working visa) — 400 euros.

Options 1. and 1.1. provide the accumulated experience in order to qualify for residence permit (which means that you and Montenegrins share the same conditions and you will not be deported from the country when entering Schengen or when another lockdown will not block your entry). You can apply for a Boravak for your spouse and children on the basis of your Boravak (you do not need to establish another company). You have to pay a tax of 60 euro/month and then you get a medical certificate and a health booklet («zdravstvennaya knizhitsa»), which gives you the right to get «free treatment». Also, the payment of the aforementioned taxes enables your child to attend kindergarten/school. Additional costs also include an accountant’s fee of 50 euros/month.

The 2nd option seems to be the least practical, since you do not acquire anything except the right to stay in the country (before entering Schengen).

The 3rd option is ideal for those who would like to have a certain initial experience of comfortable living in Montenegro. Taxes are not required at all. It is a perfect option, especially for freelancers. 350 serene days before the re-submission.

These calculations include:

— payment of fees, services of a translator, lawyer, notary, etc. in the registration process which are not usually mentioned by travel-bloggers (the author of the text has a firsthand experience of how the cost of the marriage for the naturalization of his future wife, 2 boravaks and establishing a company in Herceg Novi grew from 1100 euros to 2075 euros).
